CHP’s H-30 helicopter crew first saw the Vallejo sideshow activity while returning from an unrelated call, authorities said. The air crew notified CHP Solano ground units, who responded to disperse the crowd. H-30 followed one sideshow participant into Contra Costa County where ground units made arrests, CHP said.
Another sideshow was located after H-30 returned to Vallejo, according to authorities. One driver was arrested in connection with that sideshow.
The helicopter crew then located a third sideshow in Crockett in the area of Interstate 80 and Pomona Street, CHP said. According to authorities, the crew witnessed a sideshow spectator get hit by one of the vehicles before the vehicle fled from the area. The driver of that vehicle was followed and taken into custody.
At least seven people were taken into custody and three vehicles impounded in connection with the three sideshows, according to CHP. Dozens more vehicles were towed after a sideshow in Oakland later Sunday night.
