According to the latest forecast, there is a 55% probability that the region could receive four inches or more of rain, increasing the likelihood of flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat and the Executive Director of the Avoyelles Parish 911 Communications Center issued a joint reminder to avoid driving through flooded roadways.
“It only takes a small amount of water to sweep away a vehicle,” officials said. “Turn around, don’t drown.”
Residents are encouraged to report hazardous conditions or request assistance by calling the Avoyelles 911 Communications Center.
