Authorities said the crash unfolded around 6 p.m. along Church Road near Meadow Road.
According to deputies, two female pedestrians and an infant who was being carried in a stroller were near the intersection when they were hit by a driver who was heading south along Church Road.
Deputies said one of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene while the second was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The infant suffered critical injuries in the crash and was hospitalized.
The driver and a passenger who were in the vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have identified the victims as 37-year-old Sediqeh Samadi and 58-year-old Raziyeh Sigary.
Neighbors told WGN-TV the crash happened on a walking path that many families frequent. They added that the victims could have been any of them and that’s why they’ve felt inclined to leave flowers near the scene.
It is currently unclear what led to the crash and deputies said there is no indication of foul play.
An investigation into the crash is currently underway and anyone with information that could help authorities is asked to contact Sheriff’s Police detectives at 708-765-4896.
