Suspect in Shondra May case denied bond

SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The man who was arrested in connection to the death of Shondra May has been denied bond.

Investigators said May, who was 18, was abducted nearly 40 years ago while she was on her way home from work one night. Her car was found abandoned about 100 yards from her front door.

May was found deceased on February 26, 1986.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said the suspect, Rubin Weeks, 63, was arrested in his camper on Movietown Drive in Canton on April 29, 2025.

“Rubin Weeks is the sole person responsible for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Shondra May,” Lee said.
