COPA confirms response to off-duty officer-involved shooting on South Side

CHICAGO — The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) confirmed that it responded to an off-duty officer-involved shooting early Monday morning in the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

COPA said around 3:45 a.m. that investigators had responded to the scene near the 10600 block of South LaSalle Street, about 30 minutes after COPA said investigators responded to a different officer-involved shooting on the South Side, according to its X feed.

No details have been released thus far as to what led up to the off-duty officer-involved shooting in Roseland. The scene was taped off Monday morning, and officials have been in and out of a home near the middle of the block.

Surrounding streets in the area do not seem to be impacted as the investigation continues.
