In a Facebook post, Oinking Acres Farm Rescue and Sanctuary reported that its staff received a call Saturday morning from a person asking if they could take 10 surrendered pigs.
While the rescue did not specify exactly where the pigs came from, a video its staff captured showed pigs packed in crates inside a trailer filled with trash. One of the pigs members of the rescue staff located was dead.
Oinking Acres indicated that most of the surrendered pigs were malnourished and emaciated.

Rescue officials reported that their facility is at maximum capacity, but the pigs it rescued on Sunday are in need of medical attention and sanctuary care.
Oinking Acres indicated that it needs to expand its current facility to accommodate the pigs it rescued this weekend. The rescue estimated that it will need $5,000 for fencing, $2,000 for additional housing needs, $3,000 for vet care and $2,000 for spay and neuter procedures.
In its Facebook post, Oinking Acres provided methods the public can use to help raise funds to ensure the rescue can take the pigs in.
Four of the pigs Oinking Acres rescued are going to be sent to another shelter — Compass Rose Farm Sanctuary in Owen County. The rest of the pigs will need to be housed at Oinking Acres or elsewhere.
