42 felony charges for New Castle man who allegedly admitted to distributing child porn

NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Court documents reveal that a New Castle man allegedly admitted to sharing child sexual abuse material with other users online.

Corey Bell, 36, is charged with 42 felonies including more than two dozen counts of child exploitation.

Corey Bell (Henry County Jail)

According to court documents, the Henry County Sheriff’s Department searched a New Castle home on March 13 after a cyber tip led child exploitation investigators to zero in on the home.

Investigators said 34 images containing child porn had reportedly been shared on the KIK messenger app. The account that sent these images allegedly traced back to the New Castle home.

Police encountered Corey Bell while searching the home who agreed to speak with investigators. According to the documents, Bell admitted to sending child sexual abuse material to several other users on KIK.

Bell claimed he didn’t watch the child pornography himself, only sent it along to other users who asked for it.

“So, you distribute child porn because people ask for it?” investigators allegedly asked him.

“Correct,” Bell reportedly responded.

Police asked Bell why he’d distribute child porn without even being paid to do so.

“Because I am an idiot,” Bell allegedly answered.

Most of Bell’s 42 criminal counts are a Level 4 felony. Level 4 felonies carry a sentencing range of two to 12 years in prison.
