The 14th annual Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer 3D Archery Tournament is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25, at the Cullman Community Archery Park. Hosted by the Heritage Archery Club and the Bowhunters of Alabama, the event welcomes archers of all ages and skill levels to compete in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA).

“Bow-Up is a fun weekend of friendly competition that draws archers from across the state,” said Rachel Beatty, marketing and communications coordinator for the BCRFA. “The yearly tournament has contributed $240,000 to local, lifesaving breast cancer research since 2012. This year, event organizers expect to cross the $250,000 mark.”

Check-in for the tournament begins at 7 a.m. each day with the last scorecards handed out at 2 p.m. Participants may shoot at any time between 7 a.m.-2 p.m., allowing archers to complete the course at their own pace. Awards will be given to top shooters in several competition classes including Fixed Pins, Open Class, Traditional and Youth. Team awards will also be presented for the highest score and most charitable team. Adult registrants receive an event T-shirt while supplies last.

Registration is $125 per team of up to five archers. Fees are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 15 and younger. Online registration ends May 21 at noon, but on-site registration will be available during the event, starting at 7 a.m.

Additionally, free tribute signs will be available for participants who want to honor their loved ones by adding their names to the event’s tribute wall.

Beth Davis, president and CEO of the BCRFA, emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “Bow-Up Against Breast Cancer is an archery event to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. The tournament was created by Alabama’s archery and bowhunting community to raise funds for research. Our goal is to eradicate breast cancer with the help of local groundbreaking advancements in breast cancer diagnostics, treatment and prevention. All funds raised at Bow-Up stay in Alabama.”

She added, “Alabama is expected to see almost 5,000 new cases of breast cancer this year alone. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama is leading the way in funding research to address this critical need. Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Bow-Up is an exciting and impactful way to honor those affected and give them hope for the future.”
