These PNW cities are being called the best places to live in the country, says a new study

(NEXSTAR) – It’s that time of year again when many people across the country are looking to move. Whether it’s somewhere else in the state you’re living in or potentially across the country, you want to know that where you’ll be setting down will be a great place to call home.

The website Livability is looking to help people with that exact problem by identifying the best places to live in the U.S.

Livability’s new study evaluates nearly 100 factors across eight equal-weight main categories: economy, housing and cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education, and health.

The list focuses on affordability and is limited to cities where median home values are under $500,000. Out of 2,000 cities, the report analyzed data to find the best small to mid-sized places to live in across the U.S.

At the top of the list was a smaller Texas town located just outside of Dallas known as Flower Mound. With a population just over 77,000, the average home costs roughly $476,000. Flower Mound earns the title of the best place to live in the country thanks to high rankings in health, safety, and its general economy.

Another Texas town also landed near the top of the list at No. 3, Sugar Land. The town lands so high thanks to its housing and cost of living, finishing high on the list in the study.

Also at the top was Carmel, Indiana which landed at No. 2 on the list in part due to it’s health and housing rankings. Naperville, Illinois was ranked the fourth best place to live in the country with really high health and education rankings.

Here’s how the rest of the top 10 best places to live in the U.S., according to Livability:

  1. Flower Mound, Texas
  2. Carmel, Indiana
  3. Sugar Land, Texas
  4. Naperville, Illinois
  5. Roswell, Georgia
  6. Overland Park, Kansas
  7. Troy, Michigan
  8. Columbia, Maryland
  9. Olathe, Kansas
  10. Round Rock, Texas

In Oregon, three cities were listed, including Gresham (No. 45), Eugene (No. 52), Salem (No. 69)

Meanwhile, in Washington, Vancouver (No. 23), Kennewick (No. 50) and Spokane (No. 60) made the rankings.
