ROY, Utah (
ABC4) — The Roy City Police Department is investigating the third auto-pedestrian accident in the past few weeks.
According to police, earlier this evening, a woman in her late 20s was crossing the street at 1900 W and 4400 S in Roy. A driver in his 70s was making a left turn onto the street and struck the woman in the crosswalk.
The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. The driver did remain on scene and is cooperating with authorities.
Earlier this week, on Wednesday, a 77-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing the street at 2350 W 4400 S in Roy. The driver who hit her fled the scene, but later turned himself in.
A little over two weeks ago, on April 15, a 9-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after being struck in a Roy crosswalk while riding his scooter. Police confirmed this was the same crosswalk where the woman was hit today at 1900 W and 4400 S.
ABC4 has reached out to Roy City’s administration to see whether they are considering any changes following the accidents on 4400 S.
