Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, toured the facilities to see non-traditional ways to educate young people.
The Prince is in the greater Philadelphia area to raise awareness about his global education program.
Philadelphia Youth Basketball CFO Ameen Akbar said Prince Edward’s visit is an honor, and hopes this will transform into better opportunities for kids participating in his program.
“We believe that the world is a lot more connected than just our surrounding neighborhoods. To be able to get the voice of young people elevated on the global stage with the Duke of Edinburgh is super powerful,” said Akbar. “It is these stories that he can take back with him home and across the globe.”
The Prince hopes to make organizations in the area potential partners for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
