Dementia is not one specific disease; it is an umbrella term for symptoms that affect memory, thinking, and social abilities, which affect the patient’s daily life. Several diseases can cause dementia, Alzheimer’s being the most common, but several things can cause dementia.
The Bridge aims to provide awareness, education, resources, and support services for people in the community with all forms of dementia and their family members and caregivers. The goal is to create a community where people affected by Alzheimer’s have support along their journey.
The Battle of the Brains Trivia Contest is free at the Fairfield Grocery and Market Cafe on Tuesday, May 6. The cafe will serve food and drinks from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Bridge. Trivia begins at 6 p.m.
The Bridge representatives will be on hand to share information about their caregiver support, resources, education, and other services for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All funds raised are used to provide services in Northwest Louisiana.
