In a statement released on Friday, city officials formally stated that City Manager Pamela Wu will step away, effective immediately.
“This decision was made to ensure the City can continue to operate smoothly and maintain organizational stability while allowing a fair internal review process to move forward in a constructive and focused manner,” said officials in a news release.
There was no other reason provided for the role shake-up.
According to her profile on the City of Cupertino’s website, Wu — a UC Berkeley graduate who grew up in the Cupertino area — has more than 20 years of public sector experience, including serving as the City of San Bruno’s Community and Economic Development Director and working at the City of Gilroy and the County of Santa Clara.
In the interim, officials said Deputy City Manager Tina Kapoor will take on the role of Acting City Manager and handle its day-to-day responsibilities.
