Caddo Parish coroner identifies victim of Shreveport shooting

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office has named the victim of a Thursday night shooting.

Just after 9:40 p.m., 19-year-old Jarius D. Pennywell was shot at a block party in the 500 block of Fuller Street in the Morningside neighborhood. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital and succumbed to his injuries at 10:34 p.m.

Mr. Pennywell is Caddo Parish’s 12th homicide in 2025 and the 11th in Shreveport. An autopsy was authorized, and the shooting remains under investigation.
