2 killed, infant critically injured in Winnetka crash

WINNETKA, Ill. (WGN) — Two people were killed and an infant was critically injured after they were hit by a car in north suburban Winnetka on Friday afternoon.

Authorities said the crash unfolded around 6 p.m. along Church Road near Meadow Road.

According to deputies, two female pedestrians and an infant who was being carried in a stroller were near the intersection when they were hit by a drier who was heading south along Church Road.

Deputies said one of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene while the second was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The infant suffered critical injuries in the crash and was hospitalized.

The driver and a passenger who were in the vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have identified the 37-year-old victim as Sediqeh Samadi, though the identity of the second individual killed has not been released.

It is currently unclear what led to the crash and deputies said there is no indication of foul play.

An investigation into the crash is currently underway and anyone with information that could help authorities is asked to contact Sheriff’s Police detectives at 708-765-4896.
