Evangeline Parish is the only parish in Acadiana for now, but the northern part of Louisiana is also under the watch, including Alexandria.
It is very likely this watch will be extended southward this evening as storms slowly slide into the region.
The storms look to move through between 8 p.m. Friday night and 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
Most of the area will see scattered storms with heavy rain and frequent lightning. A few storms, however, may be strong or severe.
Severe storms could produce damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes. Flooding is also possible with slower moving storms.
