LPGA Tour golfers arrive in style for Black Desert Championship

ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — The Black Desert Championship is rolling out the red carpet for the LPGA Golfers, in a sense — and what better way to do it than skipping the luggage lines and flying private?

When the plane touched down at St. George Regional Airport, the crews went to work, welcoming the LGPA players to the Black Desert Championship right on the tarmac. And what makes it more special is that they flew in on charter planes. And for some of these golfers, it’s their first time on one.

“It’s the first time, I think, for a lot of us,” Golfer Jennifer Kupcho told ABC4.com. “It’s definitely something new.”

For some of these LGPA athletes, it’s safe to say they were excited.

“We were so happy, we couldn’t believe it. I certainly did not expect it to be this good,” Golfer Benedetta Moresco said. “We really appreciate it. We’re very grateful and super happy.”

The Black Desert Championship partnered with SkyWest to pull together seven private jets — something that SkyWest spokesperson Marissa Snow says is rarely done on the LPGA Tour.

“It’s hard to find the words,” Snow added. “We’re thrilled that SkyWest was willing to offer it.”

Black Desert Resort Managing Partner Patrick Manning says the special treatment goes further than a flight.

“When they get to the resort, they’re going to stay for free, dine for free, and stay free,” Manning added. “Everything is on us.”

Manning adds that this is all because they want to show the world they support women.

“We have a megaphone,” Manning says. “This tournament will be aired in 220 countries worldwide, and will be able to show how Black Desert showed up for these women who deserve to have the red carpet rolled out. We’re excited to do it.”
