Authorities said they responded to a call on the evening of Thursday, May 1, reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Gonzales Mexican Restaurant and was in need of medical attention. The victim, identified as Luther Stowe, 64, of Grayson, was transported to Citizens Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Deputies say the suspect, identified as Lucas Stowe, 37, also of Grayson, fled the scene but was followed by an off-duty deputy and taken into custody on U.S. Highway 165 near Caldwell Parish High School.
The investigation revealed that the father and son had eaten together at the restaurant and gotten into an argument over who would pay for the meal. After the disagreement, Lucas allegedly waited in his vehicle until his father walked in front of it and then intentionally accelerated, striking and killing him.
Lucas Stowe was booked into Caldwell Correctional Center on a charge of second-degree homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
