The win marked the Lions’ 35th in a row.
Covenant Christian closed out their 2025 regular season schedule with a perfect 34-0 record on April 14th. The Lions remained game-ready with scrimmages against schools like Brother Martin while they waited 17 days for their postseason opener.
Nicholls-signee Mason Canter set the tone in the bottom of the first with a leadoff home run while starting pitcher Owen Trosclair held the Saints’ offense scoreless on the night.
“I think we were a little rusty, but give credit to St. Martin’s. Their pitchers competed their butt off a lot. I thought that, long story short, our guys just. Look, we fought, we’re used to winning, and I think we competed well, and we just gave ourselves an opportunity at the end,” said Covenant Christian head coach Joe Teuton.
The Lions advance to the quarterfinal round and await the winner of Friday’s bout between No. 9 St. Mary’s and No. 8 St. Frederick.
