Cat returned to owners after being reportedly stolen in South Philly

According to reports, Artie or Artemis the cat, was taken by a pair of juvelines on the 1500 block of South Hicks Street on Saturday at 8:15 p.m

After almost a week of heartache and stress for his owners, Artie has been reunited with his owners at ACCT Philly.

According to ACCT Philly, Artemis was brought to the shelter by two women after hours, who thought the cat was a stray.

ACCT Philly’s Director of Programs and Strategic Initiatives was doing intake early this morning and recognized the cat, said a spokesperson for the organization.

Artemis was scanned for a microchip, and it was confirmed to be him.

The owners were called, and Artemis was officially reunited!

ACCT Philly also wants to remind pet owners about microchipping.

“It’s also a good reminder to think about what if that happened to your pet? Are they microchipped? Is that microchip registered? Do you have a recent photo of them to prove they are yours and/or vet records?” said an ACCT Philly spokesperson.
