14-year-old boy shoots man during domestic attack on South Side

CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy shot a man during a domestic attack on the city’s South Side.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday on the 4800 block of South Drexel in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

According to police, officers responded to a residence where a 33-year-old woman was involved in a domestic incident with a 33-year-old man.

Police said the man pulled out a knife on the woman, at which time a 14-year-old boy produced a gun and fired at the man.

The man was shot in the shoulder and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Police said they are speaking with a person of interest.

Area One Detectives are investigating the circumstances involving the shooting.
