“Most people are told to listen, not taught to listen including our educators so this is a skill they’ve never been formally taught for the most part either. They’re implementing the program and making it a language of listening in the classroom,” said Christine Miles, Creator of The Listening Path.
Students learn to listen through a series of fun, engaging animated videos.
“What we’ve done is really taught students specific skills to really make sure they know how to learn well, they can approach conflict in a healthy way, and they know how to make positive connections with other people,” said Sue Szczepkowski, Head of Lower School at Germantown Academy.
Germantown Academy was the first school in the nation to implement the program.
“I think it’s a great program for kids to learn how to listen not just for words but for details and instructions. I’ve learned that listening is a super power not that you’re born with, but you have to learn, ” said Dari, a student from Germantown Academy.
