Lindsey will begin his second stint uptown. Before taking over the program, the Texas native was an assistant coach under former head coach Stacy Hollowell, and Lindsey’s recruiting prowess shined, during his two-year tenure.
Lindsey brought in two members of Loyola’s 2022 NAIA National Championship Team: Myles Burns and Zach Wrightsil, and the new head coach will be leaning on his previous experience to build a new era of Wolf Pack dominance.
“With the [transfer] portal and the turnover, it’s hard to build programs the way that they used to be able to be built for college athletics, and to me a place like Loyola allows you to build the way you want to. With kids that are coming here, typically are coming because they know what kind of place this is,” Lindsey said.
The Wolf Pack’s new head coach wrapped up another year under Hollowell. Lindsey was UNO’s top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, and although taking the helm at Loyola was too good to pass up, the moment was bittersweet between Lindsey and Loyola’s former head coach.
“He was happy for me, of course, because he’s my guy. There was a little bit of sadness for us. Being reunited right after a nine-year hiatus and it only ended up being a year, but Stacy’s my guy. He was thrilled for me,” Lindsey added.
