Kea served with DPS for 30 years, beginning his career in 1968. He worked in the Texas Highway Patrol, Driver License Service, and License and Weights divisions before being promoted to the Texas Rangers in 1978.
He served as a Ranger for 20 years, with assignments in Eastland, Pleasanton, and Lubbock, before retiring in 1998.
After retiring from DPS, Kea continued his public service with the Eastland Police Department, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and in corporate security roles.
Before joining law enforcement, Kea served in the United States Army.
