Stephen Pettefer, 41, was indicted by a grand jury in March on charges related to the crash that originally occurred on the afternoon of August 4, 2024.
The crash involved an SUV that crashed into a motorcyclist and then collided with another SUV in the Lloyd District, Portland police said. At the time, authorities said both of the drivers of the SUVs “remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers.”
Then on October 22, 2024, the motorcyclist, 68-year-old Aundrae Laroy Black, died from his injuries after being hospitalized, officials said.
On Thursday, U.S. Marshals arrested Pettefer in downtown Portland and he was lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center, authorities said.
Pettefer faces charges that include second-degree manslaughter, third- and fourth-degree assault, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person.
