ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Sonya Rogers, 55, for purposely causing a fire in the Olesen Plaza high-rise apartment complex, according to court documents.

On April 28, around 7:37 p.m., Rockford Fire was called to 511 North Church Street for the fire. The incident started when Rogers and her husband, the owner of the apartment, began arguing.

The man told fire investigators he left the apartment, but when he returned, he saw smoke and water everywhere.

Investigators also found a pile of the man’s burned clothes on the floor.

The damage to the complex was estimated at $100,000, according to Rockford Fire.

Rogers was taken to Swedish American Hospital for hypoglycemia after the incident, according to court records.

Rogers is charged with arson to personal property, residential arson and aggravated arson while people were present.
