NOTE: This article has been turned into an almanac of Tuesday’s weather. We have published a new weather story for Wednesday.
It was a far cooler day Tuesday with no repeat of Monday’s unseasonably warm mid 80s as a cold front slid through the area Tuesday morning.
In fact, the high occurred while most of us were asleep, reaching 77 degrees at 1:24 AM. Temperatures settled back into the 60s for much of the day. Peak midafternoon readings (when you would expect the day’s high to occur) were some 20 degrees cooler than the same time on Monday.
Winds remained gusty, peaking at 45 mph for both airports.
About half the day’s possible sunshine was observed and April continues slightly below normal.
Pollen numbers were noticeably higher thanks to the warmer temperatures and gusty winds. Tree and grass pollen are the biggest culprits as both are currently in the high range.
