EPD and VCSO confirm ICE operations taking place in Evansville

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Department and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be conducting enforcement and removal operations in the Evansville and Vanderburgh County area on Tuesday.

Chief of Police Philip Smith and Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson say their agencies did not assist in the operation, and do not participate in general immigration enforcement, except in cases where an individual has committed a criminal offense unrelated to their immigration status.

Authorities say anyone wanting to check the status of an individual in ICE custody can use the online locator tool here.
