
The boat was taking on water and was unable to reach shore when rescuers received the distress call, the Marin County Fire Department said. Three of the five boaters were stranded in the water, clinging to the boat and floating camping gear when rescuers arrived.
Firefighters and National Park Service rangers responded to the distressed boaters using personal watercraft and a 29-foot rescue boat.
“All individuals and the dog were safely brought to Miller Park boat launch, where they were evaluated for hypothermia and released,” the Marin County Fire Department said. “This group did well by staying calm, calling 911 and waiting for help. Before heading out, always ensure you have a life jacket for everyone on board and a plan for emergencies.”
