The bridge, which crosses Bayou Pierre near the small community Gorum, remains closed to all traffic until further notice.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) first announced the emergency closure of the bridge on Louisiana Highway 110 (LA 110) in Natchitoches Parish on April 23, 2025. The sheriff’s department confirmed on April 28 that the road remains closed.
DOTD officials advise drivers to use the following detours:
For northbound traffic: Take LA 119 south to LA 8 westbound, then merge onto Interstate 49 (I-49) northbound, and reconnect to LA 119.
For southbound traffic: Take LA 119 north to I-49 southbound, then exit onto LA 8 eastbound, and return to LA 119.
The closure is necessary for safety reasons.
DOTD did not specify when the bridge is expected to reopen. Concrete barriers are in place to prevent people from passing.
