According to the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, the Smoothie King Center will host Poirier’s last fight as he faces off against Max Holloway on July 19.
Poirier is from Lafayette and entered the UFC in 2011, with some of his well-known victories being over Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler.
The UFC website states this will be the third time the two meet, as Poirier challenges Holloway for his BMF title.
Poirier confirmed his “long-anticipated homecoming” on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Tickets for July’s event go on sale in May. For more information, visit the UFC website.
