He has 14 pianos.
Well, keyboards.
His name is River Eckert.
He got his name because he was born by the mighty Mississippi River as WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood finds out.
River has been flowing across some kind of keyboard since he was three. There is a keyboard in every corner from the house to the family recording studio in the backyard.
He’s had a few piano lessons since then and inherited inspiration from his dad Jake, who played guitar with the Dirty Dozen Brass band.
He’s a straight A student at NOCCA, New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, who also sings.
He’s on stage at Jazz Fest.
“I want to keep performing as much as I can for the rest of my life and keep composing and writing music,” said Eckert.
You’ll see and hear River Eckert on Saturday, May 3 at 11:15 in the Blues Tent.
