Tyler Warren, Shedeur Sanders receive NFL Draft prank calls; prankster confesses

(WHTM) — Tyler Warren and Shedeur Sanders were among multiple athletes who received prank calls from people pretending to be NFL scouts selecting them to be picked in the 2025 NFL Draft.

A video posted by Adam Schefter on X depicts Shedeur Sanders receiving a call from a kid impersonating Mickey Loomis, the General Manager of the New Orleans Saints. The kid told Sanders the Saints would use their upcoming pick on him, but after a brief exchange, the kid told Sanders, “You’re going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that.”

NFL reporter Stephen Holder added that former Penn State and now-Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren was also a victim of a draft prank call, among others.

Schefter said the kid who pranked Sanders identified himself as Jax Ulbrich, the son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who confessed to the call and apologized to Sanders on social media. The post from Ulrich on Instagram reads:

On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake. Sheduer [sic], what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrasing, and shameful. I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. @shedeursanders

According to analyst Jordan Schultz, Warren also received a prank call when the Jets were on the clock with the seventh pick. Schultz says Warren’s camp believes it was the same number and/or area code involved in the Shedeur Sanders prank on Friday night.

The Colts selected Warren with the 14th overall pick in the draft. The Cleveland Browns selected Sanders with the 144th pick of the draft, after a dramatic slide.
