Mississippi River crests above flood stage in Vicksburg
VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi River crested above flood stage on Monday, April 28 in Vicksburg. The National Weather Service (NWS) expects the water level to hold for several days before falling.
Warren County Emergency Management Director John Elfer said some residents left the Ford subdivision because floodwaters covered some roads. Water is covering part of Chickasaw Road off of North Washington Street.

Elfer said drivers should stay behind barricades and obey warning signs posted near flooded areas, including the flood wall. He said crossing blocked areas could put lives at risk and delay recovery efforts.
