List: Mississippi JOANN stores set to close Monday

(NEXSTAR) — More than 100 JOANN stores are preparing to close their doors for good on Monday, months after the craft retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The January filing marked the second such move in less than a year for JOANN. Initially, the Ohio-based company said it planned to close roughly 530 underperforming stores. Then, in February, the retailer announced all of its stores would shutter after the GA Joann Retail Partnership — comprised of financial services company GA Group and term lenders for JOANN — won a bidding process for the company’s assets.

Several JOANN stores throughout the country have already closed this month, a spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar. Another 112 will close on Monday. You can find those locations, listed by state, in the table below.

They join the more than 140 JOANN stores that closed earlier this month, including the two dozen that marked their final day of business on Sunday.

Listed below are the JOANN stores that have already shuttered.

The remaining JOANN stores, totaling more than 500, are on track to close by the end of May, a spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar.

If you are interested in shopping JOANN’s closing sales, you’re encouraged to shop in stores. The company has warned against the fake websites posing as JOANN’s that have popped up since the bankruptcy filing.

“Please shop in-store only,” the company said in a social media post earlier this month. “Joann.com is available to browse our catalog and find your closest store, but there is no online shopping available during our liquidation. Beware of fraudulent websites!”

Joann is just the latest nationwide brand to shutter hundreds of brick-and-mortar locations, joining Party City, Jack in the Box, Big Lots, and Advance Auto Parts.

Some Big Lots stores are, however, making a comeback. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year, Big Lots closed hundreds of stores and announced in December that it would begin “going out of business” sales at all locations. Then, in February, court documents suggested hundreds of Big Lots stores could remain open under Variety Wholesalers. Several such locations opened this month, with more on pace to open in May.
