COPA investigating Chicago police shooting on Southwest Side

CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on the city’s Southwest Side.

The shooting happened early Monday morning on the 3700 block of West 67th Place in the West Lawn neighborhood.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) has confirmed the shooting and are on the scene investigating, which seems to be focused around the driveway of a home.

Officials said the officer involved was not seriously injured, but did endure some cuts to his ear that were possibly caused by broken glass.

The officer was reportedly off-duty at the time of the shooting.

No further information has been released at this time.
