Jesus taught us that the greatest among us is the one who serves (Matthew 23:11). The Gospel isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about faithful love in action. A kind word, a listening ear, or a shared meal can be life-changing when done with compassion. These small, often unseen moments are where the Kingdom of God breaks into our everyday lives. Pope Francis reminds us that living for others, even quietly and humbly, has eternal value. When we love intentionally, we become co-workers in God’s mission to heal and restore.
This kind of purposeful living transforms not only those we serve but our own hearts as well. It frees us from the burden of self-centeredness and draws us closer to the example of Christ, who gave His life not for crowds, but for each individual soul. As we go about our days, may we carry this truth with us: helping just one person—to smile, to feel seen, to know they are loved—is enough to give our lives meaning. In God’s eyes, no act of love is ever wasted.
