Saints add UCLA tight end Moliki Matavao in seventh round of NFL Draft

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Black and Gold added a 6’5″, 260 pound tight end in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft: selecting UCLA’s Moliki Matavao with the 248th overall pick.

Matavao finished his final season with the Bruins with 41 catches for 506 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The Nevada native only started 22 of 50 games, during his time with UCLA and Oregon, but Matavao was only two yards shy of 1,000 career receiving yards: finishing with 998 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Matavao will join a tight end room with opportunities awaiting him, despite the Black and Gold signing Juwan Johnson to a three-year deal this off-season. Taysom Hill suffered a torn ACL in 2024, and Foster Moreau was the only other tight end who saw primary targets.
