Southern Utah will see mostly sunny skies with elevated winds. Highs will reach the mid-70s for the Wasatch Front and the low-80s for St. George. Winds for today will be strongest for western Utah, especially west of I-15. Winds along the Wasatch Front will see gusts up to 20 mph, and 30-35 mph winds for the southern half of the state.
Winds stick around on Saturday, with gusts again reaching 30-35 mph across much of the area. Expect a mix of sunshine and high clouds throughout the day, with thicker cloud cover moving in by late afternoon ahead of our next system.
A slow-moving trough drops into the region on Sunday, and it’s packing some cold air with it. That means we’re looking at a mix of valley rain and mountain snow starting Sunday morning and continuing through the day. Things stay unsettled into Monday as wraparound moisture fuels more showers, especially for northern and central Utah.
Snow levels will likely drop down to around 6,500 to 7,000 feet, so our mountain valleys will see a nice return of winterlike conditions. We’ll likely see a break in the pattern for the majority of Tuesday; however, another system could clip the northern half of the state sometime late Tuesday into Wednesday.
