Tez Johnson, 3 more Oregon Ducks drafted into NFL

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Ducks fan favorite Tez Johnson was emotional Saturday after being selected 235th overall in the 7th round of the NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Johnson led Oregon in receiving last season with 898 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was also named MVP of the Big 10 championship game. He now will join his adopted brother, Bo Nix, in the NFL — making the Broncos-Bucs matchup fun to watch.

Johnson joins running back Jordan James, O-lineman Ajani Cornelius and linebacker Jeffrey Bassa as the Ducks selected on the 3rd day of the NFL draft.

James was taken by the San Francisco 49ers with the 147th pick, while Bassa was taken 156th by the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Cornelus was taken 204th by the Dallas Cowboys.

Oregon had 6 other players drafted in the earlier rounds. Defensive tackle Derek Harmon was taken 21st by the Pittsburgh Steelers, while offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. went to the Washington Commanders with the 29th pick.

The Rams took tight end Terrance Ferguson with the 46th pick on Day 2, followed by defensive end Jordan Burch (78) to the Arizona Cardinals, defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell (86) to the Chargers and Heisman Trophy finalist Dillon Gabriel (92) to the Cleveland Browns.

Gabriel will battle another high-profile draftee, Shadeur Sanders, for playing time with the Browns. Sanders was taken in the 5th round on Saturday.

Oregon State offensive lineman Joshua Gray did not hear his name called, but he will try to make a team as an undrafted free agent.
