Steelers draft Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson in the third round
PITTSBURGH Pa. (BLACK AND GOLD NATION) – Despite having Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders on the board, the Pittsburgh Steelers instead drafted Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson in the third round.

Johnson was selected 83rd overall by the Steelers. Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann announced the pick. Johnson was one of nine running backs that visited Pittsburgh for a pre-draft visit.

Listed at 6’1″ and 221 pounds, he is expected to be Najee Harris’ replacement as an explosive power back in the offense. Steelers running back Jaylen Warren also signed his restricted free agent tender offer this past week, bringing him back for another season.

This past year, Johnson was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is given out to the nation’s best running back. The junior rushed for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns this past season. Over his career, Johnson rushed for 2,779 yards and 30 touchdowns.
