News 10 sat with Kevin Faulk as he expressed his gratitude for this honor.
“It’s very important just for the sense of what I’ve accomplished moving forward and the growth in me,” Faulk said. “…the growth in who this who this is and who it’s becoming to be.”
From a successful football career in high school, college and NFL, Faulk came back to his roots in Carencro and is making a lasting impact on the future of the city through charitable events and community outreach.
Faulk’s work on and off the field with the city’s youth was recognized and appreciated when city mayor Charlotte Clavier handed him a key to the city and the displaying a sign welcoming people into the city of Carencro as the home of Kevin Faulk.
“We always followed him. And then he came back home, and he’s been the most wonderful community person supporting the kids,” said Clavier. “He does all of it as quiet as possible, so we decided to put a little spotlight and show off all of what Kevin does.”
With everything Faulk has done throughout his career, he said being recognized like this is one of his proudest moments.
“I tell people all the time, my dad always used to tell me it’s okay to be rich in money. But the best thing is to be rich in people. That’s my community. That’s the city of Carencro.” Faulk said.
Faulk will continue his work mentoring and educating the youth of his community and be an example of were hard work and dedication can get you.
