It was another unseasonably mild day Wednesday with highs surging well into the 70s during the afternoon following a dreary and soggy start to the day.
The heaviest tally fell well south of Chicago in Flossmoor where a half inch was recorded. Midway recorded 0.29 inches while officially 0.08 inches fell at O’Hare.
The official 76 degree high temperature was 14 degrees above normal and more typical of late May than late April.
Mixed sunshine emerged during the afternoon allowing us to tally nearly half of the day’s possible sunshine.
The recent warmth is also responsible for a noticeable jump in the pollen numbers, especially tree pollen which remains high. Grass and mold have jumped into the moderate category.
