TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Two people have been arrested after a Tickfaw man died as the result of a fentanyl overdose on April 8.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, first responders responded to a home on John’s Drive in Tickfaw where a 29-year-old man was found unresponsive, and after life-saving efforts were attempted, ultimately died.

An autopsy showed that the man had died due to an overdose. An investigation followed, identifying Jordan Kenyatta “Clutch” Spears, of Hammond, as the person who allegedly sold the victim the drugs which proved fatal.

Spears was arrested on April 23 and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on April 25. He faces charges of second-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and distribution of a schedule II narcotic.

During a search of his apartment, Spears’ girlfriend was also arrested due to alleged evidence of a drug distribution operation and a stolen gun being found. She faces charges of principle to second-degree murder, conspiracy to distribute heroin, possession of a stolen firearm and obstruction of justice.
