Chicago police say the incident unfolded around 8 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Ashland Avenue in Auburn Gresham.
Officers said the victim, a 14-year-old girl, was standing outside in the area when she heard gunshot shots and felt pain shortly after.
The teen ended up suffering a gunshot wound to her right arm and retreated back into her home before she was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in good condition.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities said no other injuries were reported.
An investigation into the shooting is now underway and no arrests have been made.
