Pedestrian hit by Metra train in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — A pedestrian was hit by a Metra train in suburban Brookfield on Wednesday evening.

According to officials from the village, the crash unfolded along the train tracks near East Maple Avenue and East Avenue in Brookfield, near the border into La Grange.

The pedestrian was struck by a Metra train near the Maple Avenue grade crossing, village officials said in an X post on Wednesday night.

The crash caused some delays for riders.

Authorities have not provided an update on the condition of the individual involved and it is unclear what led to the crash.

It is the second time a pedestrian has been hit by a train in recent days.

On Tuesday, a pedestrian was killed after they were struck by a train near Westmont.
