REXBURG — A boil advisory in Rexburg has been lifted two days after a water line ruptured on 2nd East.
According to a Facebook post by the city, the water test samples have returned clean, and the boil advisory has been lifted as of 11 a.m.
Over the weekend, a water line on 2nd East in Rexburg ruptured. Crews placed a temporary fix on the line at the time.
On Tuesday afternoon, while trying to fix the line, crews reportedly discovered a larger issue, creating the need for an urgent repair, leading to a loss of pressure, according to a news release from the city earlier this week.

A drop in/loss of water pressure creates conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through backflow, by backpressure, or back-siphonage. As a result, there is an increased chance that the drinking water may contain disease-causing organisms.
