The school has been listed for $2,025 or best offer.
“1960s brick-and-mortar school building complete with field house, library, auditorium, cafeteria, gymnasium, pool, turf field, and auto shop. Nostalgic hallways. Newly renovated roof and locker rooms. Proudly home to professional athletes Fred VanVleet and Vederian Lowe,” the listing begins.
According to the listing, “External classroom building requires heavy maintenance. Teacher shortage prevalent. Severe lack of *available* bathrooms is noted. Staff and students not included with purchase.”
Photos included with the posting purport to show damage to bathroom stalls, what appears to be a vaping device in a toilet, a rat in the hallway, a hair weave lying on the floor, and various photos of litter in the stairways and restrooms.
The seller, listed as “amy_stake,” used a photo of Brian Ott, the head basketball coach, as their avatar. The user has no other eBay listing history.
“P.S.: Belated congratulations to Officer Jason Lawler for winning the RPD’s Best Physical Fitness Award,” the listing reads.
Auburn High School is available for local pickup only, the seller says.
We reached out to the Rockford Public School District for comment, but did not receive a response.
Former Auburn students told us that in 2019, the senior class placed a “for sale” sign out in front of the school and listed it for purchase online.
