ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) —A local non-profit hosted a night of food and fun, all for a good cause. RAMP Disability Resources and Services put on its annual “Sip and Sample” event at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens.

The evening featured food and drinks from local vendors, a silent auction, the “Secret life of butterflies” exhibit, and live music from “Ukulele Express 815“. You can listen to their full performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in the video below.

The funds raised at this event will be used to support members of the community with disabilities.

“Sometimes we work with people for a day, sometimes it’s a week, sometimes it might be 5 years, but the intention of our program is to work to the point where they don’t need us anymore.”

RAMP CEO Jackie Sundquist explained, “So we are teaching life skills, we are teaching advocacy, we’re teaching people how to do for themselves and not rely on others, whether that’s rely on us, rely on the government, rely on a family member. And so, when you teach people to do for themselves, that’s success.”

RAMP was founded in 1978.
