Saturday is Drug Take Back Day, find a drop-off near you

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Every year, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) hosts Drug Take Back Day. This Saturday, April 26, agencies across Utah will be participating in safely disposing of prescription drugs.

Here are some of the locations in Utah where you can drop off your unneeded and expired prescription medication on Saturday. For locations not on this list, or to locate a drop-off near you, visit the DEA’s website.

The event will run between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in most locations; events with a different time will be noted. No needles or sharp objects will be accepted.

Salt Lake County

The Salt Lake City Police Department will participate in Drug Take Back Day at its Pioneer Precinct.

The West Jordan and Draper Police Departments’ Drug Take Back events will be held at Smith’s.

The South Salt Lake Police Department will be at Walgreens for their drop-off.

The Sandy Police Department will be at Sandy City Hall’s east entrance.

Utah County

The Utah County Health Department is hosting several Drug Take Back Day drop-offs as well. The locations are as follows:

  • Spanish Fork Police Department

  • Walmart Supercenter
    949 Grassland Drive, American Fork, Utah
  • Macey’s
    760 E Main St, Lehi, Utah
  • CVS
    5326 W 11000 N, Highland, Utah
  • Payson Market Pharmacy
    586 N Main St, Payson, Utah
  • Pleasant Grove Recreation Center
    547 S Locust Ave, Pleasant Grove, Utah
  • Springville Public Library
    45 S Main St, Springville, Utah
  • Vineyard City Hall
    125 South Main Street, Vineyard, Utah

Davis County

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office will oversee drop-off at the Smith’s in West Point.

The Syracuse Police Department will host a Drug Take Back event at Walmart.

The Kaysville Police Department will also have a drop-off location at Smith’s.

Weber County

The Weber County Sheriff’s Office will have officers running Drug Take Back Day. Officers will be in Plain City, and note that you can turn in vape devices if the lithium-ion batteries are removed.

The Ogden Police Department will also be hosting two drop-off locations.

Washington County

The St. George and Hurricane Police Departments will both be hosting drop-offs.

Emery and Carbon Counties

Emery and Carbon Opiod and Substance Use Coalition are hosting a few Drug Take Back Day events. Between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 26, you can visit one of the following locations to drop off your prescriptions. A free swag bag and food truck will be provided while supplies last.

  • Stewart’s Market

Cache County

The Utah State University Department of Public Safety is hosting a drop-off in the basement of the student center on campus.

Uintah County

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office will be at Walmart in Vernal.

Tooele County

The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office will be in Stansbury Park for their Drug Take Back Day drop off.
